Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using TrueCert (truecert.co), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use our platform.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and idealy AB (Swedish company, org. nr 556880-7464), the operator of TrueCert.
Your continued use of the platform after any modifications to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
2. Account Registration & Eligibility
To use TrueCert, you must:
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Provide accurate and complete registration information (name, email address, password).
- Maintain the security of your account credentials.
You are responsible for all activity under your account. You must notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
We reserve the right to refuse registration or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
3. Description of Services
TrueCert is a professional skills verification platform. We do not teach -- we test. Our services include:
- Timed assessments -- standardized exams that verify your existing knowledge across various technology domains.
- Digital credentials -- verifiable credentials issued upon passing an assessment. Passing a free Introduction-level assessment earns a skill badge with a shareable verification token. Passing a paid (Level 1+) certification earns a certificate that additionally includes a downloadable PDF and an Open Badges 2.0 compliant badge.
- Verification API -- enabling employers and third parties to verify certificate authenticity.
- Organization tools -- team management, candidate invitations, custom assessments, and analytics dashboards.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the services at any time, with reasonable notice where practicable.
4. Assessment Rules
When taking an assessment, you agree to the following rules:
- Timed exams. Each assessment has a time limit. The timer runs continuously, even if you close your browser.
- One attempt at a time. You may only have one active assessment session per certification at any given time.
- No cheating. You must complete assessments using only your own knowledge. Using external help, automated tools, or collaborating with others during an exam is prohibited.
- No sharing of questions. Assessment questions are confidential. You may not copy, screenshot, record, or share any question content in any form.
- Integrity monitoring. Assessments may include non-intrusive technical measures to protect content integrity and detect unauthorized recording or distribution. These measures do not collect additional personal data beyond what is already associated with your assessment session.
- Cooldown periods. After a completed attempt, a cooldown period applies before you may retake the same assessment. Cooldowns escalate with each attempt (currently 8 hours after the first, then 24 hours, 72 hours, and 1 week). The exact retry time is shown on the certification page.
- Expired assessments. If you do not submit before the timer expires, the assessment is automatically marked as expired and unanswered questions count as incorrect.
Violation of these rules may result in assessment invalidation, certificate revocation, and account suspension.
5. Certificates & Verification
- Verification tokens. Each credential includes a unique verification token that can be shared with employers. For paid (Level 1+) certificates, tokens have configurable expiry periods (30, 60, or 90 days). For free Introduction-level skill badges, tokens are valid for 30 days. You can generate new tokens at any time.
- PDF certificates. Paid (Level 1+) certificates include a downloadable PDF version for your records. Free Introduction-level skill badges do not include a PDF.
- Open Badges 2.0. Paid (Level 1+) certificates are issued as Open Badges 2.0 credentials, compatible with LinkedIn, Credly, and other badge platforms.
- Privacy. You control who can see your credential details. Verification tokens can be set to masked or full privacy level.
- Revocation. We reserve the right to revoke credentials if we determine the assessment was completed in violation of these Terms.
Credentials remain on your profile permanently, but verification tokens must be renewed after expiry. The feature set attached to free skill badges may change over time; earned certificates for paid certifications retain their features.
6. Pricing & Payments
Individual Purchases
- Introduction-level assessments are free.
- Paid assessments are available as individual purchases via Stripe. Prices are displayed on each certification page.
- All prices are in USD unless otherwise stated.
- Paid assessment purchases are valid for 90 days from the date of purchase and include the initial attempt plus one free retake within that period. Additional attempts require a new purchase.
- Discount codes may be applied at checkout where available.
Organization Subscriptions
- Organization plans (Starter, Team, Business, Enterprise) are billed monthly.
- All organization plans include a 14-day free trial.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
Right of Withdrawal & Refund Policy
By purchasing an assessment, you consent to immediate delivery of digital content and acknowledge that you waive your right of withdrawal under EU Directive 2011/83/EU once the purchase is completed. All assessment purchases are final.
- If you experience a technical issue on our part that prevents fair completion of an assessment, contact us at [email protected]. We will review your case and may grant a free retake or, at our discretion, issue a refund.
- Organization subscriptions may be cancelled at any time. Access continues until the end of the current billing period. Refunds are not issued for partial billing periods.
We reserve the right to change pricing at any time. Price changes do not affect existing purchases.
7. Organization & Team Accounts
If you create or manage an organization account:
- You are responsible for your team members' compliance with these Terms.
- Organization administrators have access to assessment results, scores, and completion data for invited team members and candidates.
- Custom exams created by your organization remain your intellectual property, but you grant TrueCert a license to host and deliver them through our platform.
- You must not use assessment invites to spam or harass individuals.
We may suspend organization accounts that violate these Terms or engage in abusive practices.
8. Intellectual Property
Our content. All assessment questions, answer options, scoring algorithms, platform design, code, and documentation are the proprietary property of idealy AB or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any part of our platform without prior written consent.
Question confidentiality. Assessment questions are strictly confidential. Sharing, publishing, or distributing questions -- in whole or in part, in any medium -- is expressly prohibited and constitutes a material breach of these Terms.
Trademarks. "TrueCert" and associated logos are trademarks of idealy AB. You may not use them without permission, except to reference your earned certifications.
Third-party trademarks. TrueCert is an independent skills verification platform. Certifications issued by TrueCert are not endorsed by, affiliated with, or sponsored by any third-party software vendor. Product and service names referenced in assessment titles, descriptions, and questions -- including but not limited to AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Datadog, GitHub, GitLab, Ansible, Meta, Mailchimp, Salesforce, and others -- are trademarks of their respective owners and are used solely for identification and descriptive purposes under nominative fair use.
9. User Content
You may submit content to the platform, including:
- Assessment reviews -- star ratings and text reviews of certifications.
- Question flags -- reports of incorrect, unclear, or outdated questions.
By submitting content, you grant TrueCert a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and moderate your content in connection with the platform. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable.
You must not submit false, misleading, or defamatory content.

- We do not guarantee that assessments are error-free or that certificates will be accepted by any particular employer or institution.
- idealy AB's total liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of the platform shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- In no event shall idealy AB be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
